Responsible Gaming
We are committed to keeping AFL Survival Pool safe, fair, and fun for everyone.
Last updated: April 2026
1. Our Commitment
AFL Survival Pool is committed to promoting responsible gaming practices across our platform. We believe that competitions should be enjoyable, social experiences that bring fans together around the sport they love.
We take our responsibility seriously and have implemented a range of measures to help ensure that participation in our competitions remains a positive experience for all users. If at any point you feel that your participation is no longer enjoyable, we encourage you to reach out to us or to any of the support services listed on this page.
2. Is This Gambling?
AFL Survival Pool operates as a social competition platform, not a licensed gambling service. Our competitions are structured as peer-to-peer tipping contests where participants pay a fixed entry fee to join a pool. Here is how the fees are allocated:
- Prize Pool — a portion of each entry fee goes directly into the competition prize pool, which is shared among the winner(s).
- Charity Donation — a portion of each entry fee is donated to a registered Australian charity selected for that competition.
- Administration Fee — a portion covers the costs of running and maintaining the platform.
While our competitions involve entry fees and prize pools, they are social tipping contests based on knowledge and judgement of AFL football. Regardless of classification, we believe in applying responsible gaming principles to any activity that involves money and competition.
3. Setting Limits
We encourage all participants to set personal limits on their spending and participation. Before joining any competition, consider the following:
- Only spend what you can comfortably afford to lose. Entry fees should come from your entertainment budget, not from money needed for essentials.
- Set a maximum amount you are willing to spend per season and stick to it.
- Decide in advance how many competitions you will join. More competitions does not necessarily mean more fun.
- Take breaks between seasons. There is no obligation to participate every year.
- Never borrow money or use credit to pay entry fees.
If you would like help setting limits on your account, please contact our support team and we will work with you to put appropriate restrictions in place.
4. Self-Exclusion
If you feel that you need to take a break from AFL Survival Pool, we offer a self-exclusion option. Self-exclusion means that your account will be temporarily or permanently restricted from entering competitions.
To request self-exclusion:
- Email us at hello@aflsurvivalpool.com.au with the subject line "Self-Exclusion Request".
- Specify whether you would like a temporary exclusion (e.g., for the remainder of the current season) or a permanent exclusion.
- We will process your request within 24 hours and confirm via email.
During the exclusion period, you will not be able to join new competitions or make any payments. Existing entries in active competitions will remain but no new entries can be made. Permanent self-exclusion can only be reversed after a minimum cooling-off period of 12 months and requires a written request.
5. Warning Signs
It is important to be aware of the signs that gaming or competition participation may be becoming a problem. Consider seeking help if you:
- Spend more money on entry fees than you can afford.
- Feel anxious, stressed, or irritable when you think about competitions or results.
- Chase losses by entering more competitions after being eliminated.
- Neglect work, family, or social obligations because of competition participation.
- Lie to others about how much time or money you spend on competitions.
- Borrow money or sell possessions to fund entry fees.
- Feel unable to stop or reduce your participation even when you want to.
- Experience relationship problems related to your competition activity.
If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you know, please reach out to one of the support services listed below. There is no shame in asking for help.

7. Age Restrictions
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and participate in any competition on AFL Survival Pool. This requirement is strictly enforced:
- Date of birth verification is required during registration.
- Age confirmation is a mandatory step before an account can be created.
- We reserve the right to request government-issued identification to verify your age at any time.
- Accounts found to be operated by persons under 18 will be immediately terminated, and any associated entries or winnings will be forfeited.
If you believe a minor has created an account on our platform, please contact us immediately at hello@aflsurvivalpool.com.au.
8. Parental Controls
We encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in monitoring their children's online activity. To help keep minors safe:
- Use parental control software to restrict access to competition and gaming websites.
- Talk to your children about responsible online behaviour and the risks associated with online competitions.
- Monitor your children's email and online accounts for any unexpected registrations or transactions.
- Keep payment methods (credit cards, PayPal accounts) secure and out of reach of minors.
Recommended parental control tools include built-in device controls (Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link), as well as dedicated software such as Net Nanny and Qustodio.
9. Our Safeguards
AFL Survival Pool has implemented a number of platform-level safeguards to promote responsible participation:
- Entry Fee Caps — competition entry fees are capped to prevent excessive spending. Standard pools are limited to a $2,000 total pool cap under Australian regulations.
- Competition Limits — the number of competitions a user can enter is naturally limited by the seasonal structure of the AFL.
- Transparent Fee Breakdown — every competition clearly displays how entry fees are split between the prize pool, charity donation, and administration.
- Charity Transparency — all charity contributions are publicly tracked on our Charity Transparency page, ensuring accountability.
- Self-Exclusion — users can request temporary or permanent self-exclusion from all competitions at any time.
- Age Verification — mandatory 18+ verification at registration prevents underage participation.
- Secure Payments — all financial transactions are processed through trusted, regulated payment providers.
- No Credit Betting — we do not offer any form of credit or "play now, pay later" arrangements. All entry fees must be paid upfront.
